Anything Considered, by Peter Mayle (1996)
Peter Mayle, who has written several books about his life in the south of France turns to fiction in this caper about a man seeking employment. He posts an ad mentioning “anything considered” and soon finds himself in the middle of a scheme involving truffle secrets. With bad guys chasing him, he and his beautiful assistant must rely on their wits to escape.
Light fiction, with some interesting background information on the truffel market, but personally I think Mr. Mayle’s talent shines through his essays on life in Provence.
